Robyn Wood

Q. What did you do before Rhino to stay active?

A. I am a stay at home mom to seven. Before joining Rhino I chased my kids around to stay active!!! It wasn’t until I was introduced to Rhino that my fitness goals got bigger and seemed attainable to me.

Q. Do you see a difference in the lifestyle you currently live vs. before joining Rhino?

A. There is a huge difference from then to now. Before Rhino I wasn’t into fitness that much. Now, I’m at the gym 6 to 7 days a week. This has become a total lifestyle change for me. I fuel my body with the right foods and push myself like I never have before. Everything about Rhino has you challenging yourself starting on Day 1.

Q. What has been the most rewarding factor for you personally since your journey started?

A. To be honest,  the most rewarding part for me: the friendships that I have made since I came to Rhino. I moved to Wentzville three years ago not knowing anyone and now all my friends are from Rhino! The bonus: I’m in the best shape of my life at 38 and only getting better!

Q. What does commitment mean to you?

A. To me, it means setting goals and  sticking to them. It means not giving up even if when it gets tough; doing it even when you don’t want to!

Q. Why Rhino from your perspective?

A. Rhino is family! Everyone motivates and supports each other day in and day out, inside and outside of the gym. To be surrounded by inspiration on a consistent basis is rare. It will change your life. It has mine.

RON LEON

Q. What did you do before Rhino to stay active?

A. I used to run outside. I joined Rhino because it as always too cold or too hot. I joined Rhino b/c I killed my treadmills at home. I had gone through a few treadmills at home, so I came over to Rhino. I’ve been a member for 6-7 years now.

Q. Do you see a difference in the lifestyle you currently live now vs. before joining Rhino?

A. Oh definitely. The big difference for me was that I stopped running. I lost my motivation. 5 years ago I completely lost everything. I was failing myself and failing on my own. I was failing completely. I would come in and I just couldn’t do it. I lost my motivation. I would fail here every morning. I would go home and would do whatever it was that made me happy at the time. I gained 30lbs and continued gaining. Weeks and months would go by and I wouldn’t work out; I had lost my motivation. One morning I told myself to just “get in there” and I was here trying to run when a trainer approached me and said, “Hey, we have this class going why don’t you join us?” And it was then that I knew I couldn’t continue doing what I was doing, so I joined the class and it was life-changing. It was exactly what I needed. It kicked my butt! I had muscles that were sore; muscles I didn’t know I even had. That’s what changed me. The classes. They kept me responsible; held me accountable. Debbie motivating me was everything I needed at the time I needed it most.

Q. What has been the most rewarding factor for you personally since your journey started?
A. When I go out of town and try other gyms, they just don’t have the “IT” factor. They don’t have what trainers like Debbie bring. They don’t have the classes. They just don’t. There aren’t 5am groups like here. There isn’t a Debbie or a Lauren. And Phil has been a HUGE part of my motivation. When I got sick, and came back I was hesitant, but Phil said to me “Hey, give it a trial month. Get in here.” At that point in time I was 245lbs due to a mix of eating and medication at that time in my life. My body just couldn’t do it, but I kept coming and kept coming. That was HUGE. That first month was HUGE and here I am years later.

Q. What does commitment mean to you?
A. Showing up. Being here. Getting it out of my system; it’s who I am now.

Q. Why Rhino from your perspective?
A. The crew. That’s it for me. That’s HUGE for me. When I lost everything, and had to pick between what was bad for me at the time or being here, showing up, I picked Rhino. Bottom line. It was the staff and the crew and my friends. Other gyms might have the equipment and the fancy theaters, but they don’t have the “family” like Rhino does. Even my son got to taste the difference between the fancy gym and Rhino and he gets it; he sees why Rhino can’t be beat.

REGINA MALONEY

Q. What did you do before Rhino to stay active?

A. So prior to Rhino I vowed that I would never be a gym-goer. I thought I could do it on my own. I prided myself on being a runner. That’s what I did in high school, and it’s what I was comfortable with. Like most people I had an apprehension to attending a gym. So after a lot of discussion and what you might call coaxing, my husband who was along-time member of Rhino convinced me that it was the right decision and I’ve never looked back.

Q. Do you see a difference in the lifestyle you currently live now vs. before joining Rhino?

A. There’s literally no comparison. They call it the fitness-bug for a reason. You catch it and it’s really hard to get rid of. The decision to become committed to a healthy lifestyle was the best decision that I had ever made. I think being at Rhino not only changes your physical appearance, but it also moves your way of thinking into a more positive place which I think makes that difficult lifestyle change decision a little easier.

Q. What has been the most rewarding factor for you personally since your journey started?

A. So Rhino has been my only gym experience. So aside from improving my overall health and well being, I feel a sense of family and comradery at Rhino. It is literally like an episode of Cheers. Everyone knows your name. They notice when you’re gone. They genuinely want to support you in any goal you want to achieve. Whether it’s running your first 5k or running your first half-marathon, they are that crowd behind you cheering you on. I think that’s important.

Q. What does commitment mean to you?

A. Commitment to me is showing up and being the best version of yourself that you can possibly be. I think sometimes we are our own worst enemy especially when it comes to health and fitness. Positioning your mindset that to believe that any goal, personal goal or gain that you achieve, is ultimately an achievement is the best way to help you overcome any obstacle you may face.

Q. Why Rhino from your perspective?

A. Rhino for me personally has been overall life changing. I’ve been at Rhino in shape. I’ve been at Rhino out of shape. I’ve been at Rhino pregnant.  Literally you name it I’ve been here. Anyone can come into a gym and can physically improve their strength, however I think that Rhino has the ability to not only improve that, but also your mental strength and that’s what it’s all about. Your mind won’t take you where you body won’t go.
